Paul & Jayne: Folly Field Wedding by Kazooieloki Photography

Oh we do adore a good old fashioned love story. A marriage made in heaven… and Scunthorpe.

Paul and Jayne were teenage sweethearts, meeting at seventeen and falling in love. Sadly when Jayne moved to Leeds to go to University the long distance took its toll on their relationship and they separated a year later. After 15 years apart the found each other again and rekindled their romance and were married at Folly Fields in Scunthorpe on Saturday 5th August 2017.

In Jayne's exact words "Paul saw me out in town two years ago celebrating a friends hen party. After that he stalked, harassed and badgered me until I agreed to go on a date with him. The rest is history". When these guys asked us to photograph their wedding we jumped at the chance after listening to their eclectic styling ideas and how everything was going to be home made and very much from the heart, but little did we know it would turn out to be something quite as special as it was. Being festival fans, they wanted to spend their wedding day in a field with a load of tents having a good old knees up. When we met them on the Thursday (48 hours before their wedding) at Folly Fields to our horror nothing had been done, there was just a giant marquee and a field. Paul explained that he had arranged for and expected everything on site for the Wednesday evening so that they had two days to decorate and set up. This was not the case, they had no table linen, cake stand or knife, 40 chairs were missing, all the laters were waiting to be put up and one very small detail, no electricity or generator had been installed. This didn’t arrive until 5pm on Friday, they were getting married at 11am the next morning, 18 hours later!!! How these two lovely people managed to pull of this incredible DIY Wedding day is beyond us, but its a testament to hard work, love and devotion. All the things a good marriage should be based upon. The incredible effort these guys put in is remarkable and we wish them well on their journey ahead in live love and the universe. Could we give a massive shout out to Lauren Smith of LS event Hire and Styling. We know Lauren already for her amazing event styling, but this was her first wedding she has coordinated on her own, amazing job done, what a way to start. Also a big mention to Robert Ward who’s house and grounds created the backdrop for something remarkably beautiful. We are privileged to shoot some amazing wedding venues up and down the country each week, but what is better then a good old fashioned love story, a bucket load of heart and soul, hard work, some drama and a vintage car garage.

Sounds NUTS, but believe us it was AMAZEBALLS!
