From the very first time we met Melanie and Carl we had a soft spot for these two lovlies. Sat in our home trying to talk wedding things and being mauled by our (at the time little baby) Isaac, who took a particular shine to Melanie. From that moment we couldn’t wait for their big day at Ripley Castle We headed off on the journey to Ripley with such high expectations of the venue, the village, the castle, the Joanna Leigh Couture Bridal Gown and the Ice Cream and boy it certainly didn’t disappoint. We arrived in the centre of Ripley outside the beautiful Boars Head Inn and took a look around, it really is like a picture postcard, a little piece of pure English heaven (when we say centre its about 100m long in each direction). The York Stone cottages, the shop, the pub and church were all overflowing with hanging baskets so brightly coloured you couldn’t help but stand for a second and smile. We just had a good feeling that this day could be a very special one. Melanie and the girls were getting ready in a cottage opposite the pub when Carl had stayed the night and if they had so wished could've opened each other windows and shouted “Hi” the were so close, so when we decided to take the dress and shoes outside to photograph we had a bit of a military operation on our hands for the groom not to see. Big up to the lady on Front Of House in the Boars Head for help with this. The whole day was such a beautiful, romantic day with two people declaring their love for each other amidst a backdrop from an Old English picture postcard. Aside from the bride and groom we have two special mentions from Saturday, firstly to “Super Dave” front of house at Ripley Castle. If every wedding had a Dave, our job would be so much easier then it sometimes is. A massive thank you to you and your wonderful attentive staff for which nothing was too much trouble for making this a day to truly remember. Secondly to Melanies Dad, for the wonderful kind words you spoke to us before we headed home, the heartfelt message you gave was something that will stay with us for a very long time. Can we all raise our glasses to two of the most genuine lovely people you are ever likely to meet “Melanie and Carl”, and NO we are NOT jealous you are in Mauritius one little bit hahahaha. Thank you for the memories. We loved Ripley so much we are planning to bring the boys back to stay in the Boars Head over the summer holidays.
