Hidden River Barn Wedding Photography
For our latest blog post we are at the stunning Hidden River Barn in the north of Cumbria, almost on the England Scotland border for the beautiful winter wedding of Sarah and Connor.
This is such a beautiful blog, not only due to the photography being sensational, but also the story of how Sarah and Connor planned their wedding in The Lake District whilst living in Germany.

Living in Germany whilst planning a UK Wedding.
Sarah and Connor have always loved the rustic vibe but had originally looked into having their wedding in Italy because it holds a lot of significance for them, but the type of rustic aesthetic you find there just didn’t entirely suit them for what they envisioned for their big day.
So they started looking at venues in the UK as this is where Connor's family is from (Sarah is a California girl, via Munich) and after coming across an article about barn weddings they found Hidden River Barn they instantly fell in love.
So much so that they booked their wedding date two years out without ever seeing it in person.
When they finally got a chance to visit in person in May of 2024 they instantly knew they made the right choice.
Sarah describes wedding planning from a different country as "both very chill and very stressful sometimes at the same time".
They were VERY fortunate that Connor’s mum used to own her own floristry shop and was able to on her own, and out of her own garage make their vision come to life perfectly.
On the other hand there was so much they had to save until the last minute when they could fly in to The UK and the last couple of weeks were beyond stressful just having to pack so much in.
But they would do it all again in a heartbeat and it was so so so worth it!
Especially for a dream venue like Hidden River!
THE BIG DAY
The morning started with a magical atmosphere created by frost-covered grounds as we arrived at the Hidden River Barns.
The venue was filled with warm, rustic elements to suit Sarah and Connors aesthetic creating a wonderful contrast to the chill outside.
Morning prep was amazing, with the girls in one of the stunning Hidden River Cabins (these really are something special) and the boys in the main courtyard.
As guests were welcomed into the barn ahead of the ceremony set against the backgrop of the iconic window we could sense something special was about to happen.
An emotionally charged ceremony set the tone for the day. Personal vows were a joy to listen to before we shot some stunnign couples portraits.
Speeches followed the heartfelt theme of the day and there wasn't a dry eye in the house when Sarah's maid of honour finished off proceedings.
Then the tempo changed and we headed outside for a Champagne Spray after a hilarious cake cut.
Finally the dancefloor, and we were treated to a backdrop and dancing that enabled us to shoot some of our favourite ever images.
Just breathtaking.
Sarah and Connor really shone against the frosty backdrop of the day. Their love warming the hearts of everyone present.
We couldn't have been prouded to have captured this special wedding day.
