Rise to the Occasion...
We recently joined forces in an epic collaboration with some of the areas leading lights at Rise Hall, East Yorkshire. Rise Hall was made famous by Channel 4's Sarah Beeny, who restored this magnificent building to its former glory as part of a Channel 4 series in 2010 Beeny's Restoration Nightmare to be used as a family home and wedding venue. From our initial meeting with Helen Davies, Rise Halls estate manager we were all in absolute awe of the place, we regularly photograph at all the leading venues across North Lincolnshire and Yorkshire but Rise Hall defies belief. The scale and grandeur of the place cannot be put into words, when our little bunch of creatives turned up on a cold November morning we knew we were in for a treat. The light was good, the sun was shining and everyone was in high spirits. Our brief was always about the collective, and we cannot thank the team enough, every single person worked their socks off to create an image and a story of the day that is quite stunningly beautiful. We initially met with Wendy Ashton, owner of Osh Gosh Gowns in Scunthorpe, one of Lincolnshires leading bridal suppliers in early October where we discussed the idea of a joint collaboration, and we soon realised something quite exciting could happen. Wendys vision from the very beginning was to create a shoot in the image of her belief that a wedding day should be fun and full of smiles, her ideal that wedding phtography can sometimes be a little stuffy was something we quickly jumped on board with as although we love our art, our documentary style of photography captures so many natural, happy, real moments. Wendy is one of the most hardworking, and thoroughly enthusiastic people we have ever had the pleasure of working with, and on the day she would help us drive the team on like a little force of nature.
Two very different styles gave us two distinctive styling ideas, for the Brighton Belle we straight away thought of the Brighton Seafront Mods and Rockers theme which suited perfectly the vintage dress design, so we decided on shooting the brides on classic Lambrettas..
For the Morilee range what else could we do but stylish, simple and elegant.
We were a little more then excited when Wendy suggested we bring on board Alex Garner from Xandria's a leading Paul Mitchell Salon in Barton Upon Humber. Alex had just come back from Las Vegas winning a prestigious international award for colour. Alex and her brilliant team took on board our styling ideas, got all the models in the salon prior to the shoot for a trial, and unbelievably closed the salon on the day of the shoot to bring her entire team with her, something we cannot thank her enough for. We must add what a wonderful bunch of hardworking, talented stylists she has at her salon, it was an absolute pleasure working with them.
As far as makeup was concerned there was and always is only one person we will ever turn too, the unbelieveable Natalie K Hodge, fast becoming one of North lincolnshires leading Makeup Artists, someone we will always work along side and support. Her beautiful smoky soft skin tones complimented Xandria's hair perfectly, and the teamwork beatwen the two was a delight to work alongside. Natalie is one of life’s nice people, finding her was one of our luckiest breaks in the last few years, at Rise she also became our fifth bride, and as you will see suited the roll quite beautifully.
Venue styling was provided by the fabulous Laura Bellamy owner of Blush Venue Decor, Laura is well known to us for her wonderful work on many weddings she has styled so we knew we were in safe hands from the start. Laura is quite definitely one of the most excitable people we have ever met, she would bring fun and laughter to any wedding day with her infectious personality and superb styling. Such a hard working person, nothing is ever too much trouble for her, and true to form she was at Rise Hall early while we were all stuck on the motorway, creating a quite incredible candle lit staircase. Laura it was a pleasure.
We worked for the first time with Katie Cave from the Flower Garden in Barton upon Humber, her natural floral designs added a touch of elegance to the shoot. The colour palette she chose perfectly complimented the bridal wear.
We are hoping this is the start of a beautiful working relationship, we would recommend Katies enthusiasm and creativity to anyone, and just like the other team members she was an absolute delight to work with.
Finally, the main attraction of the day, our five brides.
Lauren Davis and Tanya Taylor we already know well as they have worked with us on bridal shoots previously, but as per usual they brought their own individuality, personality and quirkiness to the shoot. Livia Brooke and Emily Grace Pollard were new models to us for the shoot, but we cannot thank them enough for adding their own individuality and beauty to our photography.
Our fifth bride was Lincolnshires finest MUA, the multi talented Natale K Hodge. Natalie brought a completely different look again which was wonderful.
Five girls, five different personalities and five completely different looks.
A big shout out to our superb groom Mr Matthew Bellamy, up for anything and nothing too much trouble, coupled with rugged good looks he made the perfect groom.
Finally a huge thank you to Peter Sawczuk and Graham Catanach who took time out of their busy lives to provide the Lambrettas for the shoot, there really are some kind people in this world and these guys are two of them.
Every single member of the team gave their all to the collective, making the shoot an absolute delight, and although we were on a tight schedule evryones enthusiam and hard work got us through the day unscathed.
Here are some selected moment throughout a wonderful day, thank you all so much...
